THE 'ANTIQUES'
The 'Antiques' were for a long time the only visible part of 'Glanum' site, the 'Arc de Triomphe' and the 'Mausolée des Jules' were indicating the monumental main entrance of the Roman city of 'Glanum' situated on the 'Via Domitia' between Spain and Italy. They are part of the most well known monuments left by Roman civilisation in Europe.

THE 'ARC DE TRIOMPHE'
The triumphal arch dates 20 AD. Most of its upper part has since disappeared. It was restored in the 18th century when flat stone tiles were used to cover the top of it. Exquisite relief illustrating Caesar's conquest of Gaul decorate it. The fruit and foliage (symbols of abundance) that also adorn it depict the benefits of the Pax Romana.

THE 'MAUSOLEE DES JULES'
This is a particularly well-preserved funerary monument datingfrom 30-20 BC. It was raised by the Julii (descendants of an important Roman family) in honor of their father and grandfather; It owes its fame to its unusual structure which is quite unique in Roman architecture known today. It is formed by a rectangular base with four magnificently sculpted sides, crowned by a double-entry triumphal arch on top of which is erected a small round temple with columns and a pyramidal roof sheltering the two persons that this exceptional monument was dedicated to.

CHAPELLE NOTRE - DAME DE PITIE
This is a particularly beautiful church, of which the first mention dates from 1525, but which existed well before then. It was en larged in 1651 due to the vow made by the consuls to raise an altar to Saint Remy, patron saint of the town, and to Saint Roch, protector and healer of the plague which, at the time, was devastating Provence. The church can be seen at the southern exit from the town, near the tourist information center. It now houses the work of the painter Mario Prassinos.
